The Department of Biomedicine at the Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a research assistant to circuit neuroscience for the period 15 October 2023-31 July 2024. The position is a fixed-term part-time position of 10 hours weekly, with a possibility to increase hours pr. 1 February 2024.

Your job responsibilities

As a research assistant, your primary tasks are conducting animal experiments, analyzing imaging data with Matlab, and writing papers. You contribute to the development of the department through teaching and research of high international quality. In your daily work, you have close interaction with competent colleagues.

Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Research within visual system and circuit neuroscience.
  • Teaching and assignment supervision of Bachelor and/or Master students in the laboratory.
  • In vivo two-photon calcium imaging from the awake head-fixed mouse superior colliculus.
  • Brain surgery for injecting viral vectors into the mouse superior colliculus.
  • Data analysis of calcium imaging with machine learning using Matlab
  • Write papers for international peer-reviewed journals.
You will report to the Head of the Department of Biomedicine.

Your competences

You have a background in the visual system and circuit neuroscience and experience with two-photon imaging from the mouse superior colliculus. If necessary, supplement with specific expectations for the position in question.

As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented, and can contribute to a good work environment.

We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.
